Flicker
Flicker is caused by tiny inconsistencies, from shot to shot, in the mechanical operation of your camera's shutter. This results in small but unintended differences in exposure between shots and it is this which produces the flicker. Shooting in manual mode at wide apertures can help to reduce the effect but depending upon your scene this may not always be possible or even desirable. For this reason the use of specialist software such as Panolapse takes the worry out of the situation by removing flicker for you.
To see what "Flicker" looks like view the video on the right. You will see an unpleasant flickering throughout, particularly in the lower half of the scene where the vegetation is. Clearly it makes for an uncomfortable viewing experience and so it is generally considered desirable to remove it. You cannot remove flicker using Lightroom so you need to use additional software such as Panolapse to eliminate it.
